Last night I had a dream that I met the guy that invented the concept of Google. The internet had yet to be invented but he was trying to sell me a “browser” It was very rudimentary in its concept though. He gave me a piece of paper, I wrote the down the topic I wanted info on, handed it to him, then looked it up in an encyclopedia and handed me back the piece of paper with some info he scribbled on it. Google has come a long way since that guy thought it up.

When I was a kid I always thought I would get married… because that is what you did when you grew up. But I honestly thought that once you did your life was pretty much over. Well, not so much your life but your capacity to have fun. For instance, after Barbie married Ken it just wasn’t as much fun to play anymore. Then when Joanie married Chachi… ratings dropped, the show was cancelled and that was the end of “happy days”. To me getting married meant you jumped the shark. I was thinking about this when I boarded the plane for our honeymoon. Was this it? Was my life now going to become nothing but a loop of cooking dinners and doing laundry? Could I have hit the nail on the head at the age of seven? Of course the answer is no, I mean what seven year old has a grasp on the complex relationship that one has with their husband? As far as they are concerned they have no concept of adult fun… or booze for that matter which makes everything fun, and anyway, Joanie loves Chachi was doomed before the first episode.

We have no been back for a week now and I have been asked the question, “how’s married life?” about 50 times. My answer is always the same… “Our life is the same as before we married, except we each have a new piece of fancy jewelry”. It wasn’t an arranged marriage. We did live together for ten months before the wedding so it’s not like I am finding out his secret penchant for watching Star Trek reruns wearing nothing but his Vulcan ears for the first time.* We already knew everything about each other… there are no secrets. I know some people think that getting married will be the solution to all of their problems. But in reality it just adds one more person that you have to always think about. Not that this is a bad thing. I love the idea that P and I consult each other on major life decisions. But marrying him didn’t cancel out any of the issues I dealt with before we got married.

• He doesn’t really watch Star Trek (but he does wear the ears).

Anyway, I will give the wedding and honeymoon post next week. I have pictures!!!!
